Terms of service

These terms govern your use of claimseconds.com (the "Service"), operated by the sole proprietor listed at the bottom of this page ("we", "us"). By claiming a second you agree to them.

1. What a claim is

A "claim" is an entry in our registry recording a specific UTC second, a name you supply, an optional message, a serial number, and a certificate ID. We undertake not to record the same UTC second for anyone else. This is the whole of what you purchase.

A claim confers no legal, proprietary, or intellectual-property right over time, calendar dates, events that occurred during the second, or any person or thing associated with them. It is a symbolic and commemorative record.

2. Eligibility and accuracy

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and, if under 18, have a guardian's permission. You are responsible for the accuracy of the name, email, and message you supply. Messages must not contain slurs, threats, harassment of an identifiable person, contact details, links, or content that is unlawful where you live. We may decline to display any message publicly.

3. Pricing, payment, and tax

Prices are shown in US dollars before tax. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy LLC as merchant of record; they collect and remit VAT, GST, or sales tax as required in your country. Their terms apply to the payment transaction.

4. Refunds

Because a claim is created and made unique at the moment of payment, claims are final and non-refundable, except: (a) if your payment completes after another person has already claimed the same second, we refund you in full automatically; (b) if a printed certificate arrives damaged or does not arrive within 45 days, we reprint or refund at your choice; (c) where consumer law in your country grants a non-waivable right of withdrawal, that right applies.

5. Public registry and sharing

If you choose a public listing, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display your name, the claimed second, and your message on the Service and in materials promoting it. You can ask us to make a listing private at any time by emailing us; we will do so within 7 days. Private claims are never displayed with your name or message.

6. Gifts

When you send a claim as a gift, you confirm the recipient has consented to receive email from us at the address you supply, or that you are entitled to give it on their behalf. The recipient's name is recorded as the owner of the claim.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the registry and verification pages available indefinitely, and to preserve all records. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. If we ever cease operating, we will publish the full registry in a durable public archive so certificates remain verifiable.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the claim in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Consumers in the EU/EEA retain the protection of mandatory rules in their country of residence.
